A hip, excited reimagining of the bowling alley venue, Bourbon Bowl brings the flavor of vintage retro fun paired with classic new dishes and cocktails to downtown Greensboro, NC. Interior Designer Erica at Assembly Design did an amazing job mixing industrial and retro styles to make a cohesive design.
Bourbon Bowl, a space-born from a junkyard and a gas station, enlivened the downtown scene with classy industrial swag and trendy decor in June 2021. Featuring six bowling lanes, patio seating, Greensboro’s longest bar, and craft food, beer, and cocktails, the venue hosts the traditional dine-snack-bowl idea paired with upscale eats and drinks. The restaurant also serves as an event venue and hosts kids’ parties, along with being the local fun bowling alley hangout with offerings of craft beer, craft cocktails (bourbon is a house specialty), and entrees southern-style like Bourbon BBQ Chicken Kabobs and Brisket Mac.
Many of the vintage-industrial items that grace the restoration space were sourced from Olde Good Things. OGT splices old and new into a custom design, making our architectural salvage and altered antiques stimulating visual and textural contributions for so many redevelopment project clients. Restaurant and retail designers take the cue from the green-repurposed, industrial, and vintage antique movements and invent classic, stylish, contemporary ways to arrange and rearrange collective spaces – often also repurposed.
Oak tabletops with a natural stain, reclaimed and reused from industrial hardwood flooring, make a sharp impression in Bourbon Bowl’s lounge and bowling seating areas. Tabletops were created from OGT stock of reclaimed flooring, along with square industrial table legs.
Diners, drinkers, and bowlers are illuminated by OGT inventory large and double large industrial holophane lights with Art Deco fixtures. Read more about the intriguing history of our stock of holophane lights, reclaimed from factories and industrial settings, initially invented to maximize the dispersion of light. The client also incorporated a NY copper flush mount subway light; original pieces such as this are eye-catching details that give imaginative spaces character.
Frosted chicken wire window glass makes an updated, reinforced replacement for glass windows, along with sets of Poughkeepsie windows. Chicken wire glass is a favorite for strength and durability. Its atmospheric contribution to spaces is the natural filtering of light with varying levels of opacity for privacy. Glass-paneled oak doors add an additional structural touch to the overall metro industrial theme, complementing the raw brick and corrugated aluminum meets colorful vintage tile and decor.
Redevelopment of downtown areas is a major movement nationwide, and OGT continues to delight in serving designers, retail, hospitality, and other industry with reclaimed architectural salvage from historic buildings – a vision that flows along with the contemporary green design and modern industrial chic.
