Columns & Pilasters

All buildings need architectural elements such as columns and pilasters. Designing a new building gives you the opportunity to create something unique, striking, and memorable. What better way to make something new than with something olde? At Olde Good Things, we specialize in architectural artifacts that can help any new construction or renovation project take on a piece of history. As you are probably aware a pilaster is an architectural element in classical architecture with only an ornamental function that is used to give the appearance of a supporting column and to articulate an extent of wall. In contrast, an engaged column or butress, made of stone, iron, or marble, can support the structure of a wall and roof above. We carry a generous collection of pilasters and columns and we offer both of these unique architectural artifacts from the turn-of-the-century and pre-war era—building elements that we have salvaged and for which we provide top-notch restoration. If you are interested in learning more about the building elements available through Olde Good Things or if you would like to learn more about our architectural salvage and restoration processes, please contact us.
