This top of the line antique Berninghaus Hercules barber chair has been restored. The chair has red tufted leather and a polished brass ornate frame. The fine hand painted details along the base and seat complete its uniqueness. The hand crank works properly and adjusts the seat. There are minor scratches and some wear on the brass finish. Please see the photos. Eugene Berninghaus established a business making barber’s lotions and perfumes in Cincinnati, Ohio, in about 1872. He began making barber chairs and other barbershop furniture in 1875. The Eugene Berninghaus Co. was the first company to make barber chairs that reclined and revolved. The companyÂ’s “Hercules” barber chair was its best-selling model. The company ceased production in 1938.
