Classic Italian Portoro Marble Mantel

This Italian Portoro marble mantel was reclaimed from a townhouse in the West Village of Manhattan. Understated yet bold, this rectangular mantel is crafted from dramatic black Portoro marble with vivid gold and ochre veining, bringing this piece a rich, opulent character.
This mantel's design is clean and rectilinear, with a straight lintel spanning the top, flush with the side jambs. The jambs themselves are squared and resting on simple block feet. As a whole, the piece has minimalist lines without carved ornamentation, allowing the natural beauty of the marble to take center stage.
This mantel exemplifies the Empire aesthetic, where noble materials and pure geometry conveyed strength and refinement. The composition would have originally suited a Neoclassical interior, but its timeless form makes it a powerful accent in both traditional and contemporary spaces.
The finish on this mantel has been restored to excellent condition, and the mantel has only minor wear from its age. If necessary, the length of the shelf can be slightly reduced. Please inquire if interested.

Local Pick-Up
Local pick-up for most orders is available in our New York City store and Scranton, PA, warehouse. A fee may apply for larger or heavier items. Processing time may take 1 to 2 weeks. We also have a location in Los Angeles that we ship a large freight container to several times a year with store pick-up available. There is an additional handling charge for this option.
