French Carved White Gray Veined Marble Mantel

This elegant mantel was reclaimed from an estate located in Greenwich, Connecticut.

This piece is carved in the French Regency style from a stunning white marble with large scale gray veining. The profile features the classic concave and convex curves that define the Louis XV style. Hand carved beading adorns the apron, leading to two floral motifs above each pilaster. The legs flare outward and are carved into simple scrolls, while a ribbon detail framed in beading runs down the face. The mantle shelf has a slightly stepped cornice, adding a layer of visual weight and formality to an otherwise soft composition.

While not visible in the photos, the cast iron surround is included. This mantel is in very good condition with wear consistent with its age.
