This 19th century petite English Regency mantel features white marble inlaid with opulent dark green Verde Antico marble. The apron is adorned with 3 very fine detailed cameos inlaid on white marble plates. Long narrow pieces of Verde Antico marble, carved with multiple shallow grooves, are framed by parallel white marble borders across the apron and on the face of the jambs. Additional pieces of dark green Verde Antico marble alternate and blend with the white marble around the firebox opening, as well as below the tiered white marble shelf.

This antique mantel was one of several mantels imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel decorated suite R of the 23rd floor. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.

The hearth is not included. Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria, there is a small amount of damage that occurred while salvaging. Please request the reclaimed condition before purchasing.
