English Regency style Italian black and gold portoro marble mantel with carved statuary marble motifs of figures holding torches. The black coloring in the mantel is veined with grays and browns. This mantel was one of a group of antique mantels imported from Europe and installed in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the 1930s when the hotel was first built on Park Avenue. This mantel is original to Room 1414. The original crema marfil marble hearth is included.
