Neoclassical Verde Antico green and white statuary marble mantel with carved urn motifs. This antique mantel was imported from Europe to furnish the Waldorf Astoria Hotel NYC., which opened on October 1, 1931. The mantel is in very good condition, having wear consistent with its age. It is original to suite K on the 13th floor of the hotel. The original installation necessitated brick extensions at the rear of the mantel. The shelf can be reduced from its original size, to fit the actual fireplace surround at 53 in. L x 6.25 in. W. The original hearthstone is beige Crema Marfil marble.
