This Petite English Regency style mantle was carved from warm white Carrara marble with gray veining. The apron and jambs are decorated with cabled flutings, and intricately carved urn motifs. The center urn is embellished with subtle carvings of rams heads and florets. This fireplace surround was formed in a style of simplicity and elegance. The edges of the narrow and thin shelf are modestly carved with a single groove. This simple detail is repeated along the face of all the trim moldings, with the exception of the trim pieces below the corner motifs.

This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel of NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to the 29th floor’s T Suite. The original hearth is included and a Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
