Parts from two similar Rouge Royal marble mantels were combined to make one marble fireplace surround with a classic serpentine apron with a seashell motif and floral detail. The horizontal apron rests on two forward facing vertical supports. The vertical supports and apron have matching outlined circle motifs with similar carved lines. The two vertical supports and one side panel are from a mantel with a darker brown marble, while the apron, shelf, and opposite side panel are from a second mantel with a lighter brown marble. The apron is a larger, deeper piece of marble and protrudes approx 1/2 in. forward from the joining point at the face of the vertical supports. Although the marble colors are not an identical match, the styles are very similar, and the marble pieces are in very good condition.
