La Ronda Salvaged
La Ronda of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the last commissioned Addison Mizner work north of the Mason-Dixon line, was recently sold. With much controversy, the monumental home, considered Mizner’s northeast masterpiece, was slated for demolition to make way for the new owner’s estate.  Olde Good Things was asked to salvage many of the historical architectural elements and preserve them for future use by Mizner fans all over. Now available are several pieces from this unique mansion, such as an arched stained glass windows and doors with medieval figural detail, and a hand painted pecky cypress ceiling, one of Mizner’s well-known handprints on American architecture. Feel free to contact us for more information.
82nd Street Townhouse Interior Acquisitions
Now available through Olde Good Things are some original lighting and other architectural details from a fine East 82nd Street, NYC, home. What follows is only a sample!
The lighting has been restored – only to be brought up to current specifications – otherwise we have maintained the authentic rich patina these pieces had when removed. We also salvaged a paneled room, hand-painted doors as well as several marble mantels. Take a look online as well as in our stores and inquire about availability and pricing. In our last post, you saw our recent acquisition of wooden planks and beams from the Coney Island Boardwalk. Here’s a bench made from these salvaged planks of Brazilian walnut also known as Ipe. We used old iron stock as well to make a truly altered antique.
Also… more from the Table People… we have a unique line of industrial style tables with machine base legs and rustic white pine as well as breadboard oak tops. Here is just a sample.
Brazilian Ipe Wood from Coney Island Boardwalk
The famous Coney Island Pier has long been in need of repair. Recently the City approved plans to replace the original pier and boardwalk. The material used for this project was a Brazilian hardwood called Ipe – a unique durable rain forest wood perfect for decking and outdoor use. The city was glad to see the pier salvaged and put to green use. It is now available for sale reworked or in its original condition with its natural ocean-weathered gray patina. It is available as decking, in an outdoor furniture line or as unusual table tops. You can have a piece of New York City history right in your home with the purchase of one of our unique altered antiques… straight from the Coney Island Boardwalk.
