Large 19th Century American Carved Mahogany Mantel with Overmantel

$7,600.00

SKU: Q279909 Categories: , ,

A simply stunning example of American architecture, this large 19th century antique mantel features highly detailed foliate carvings with four griffins, two flanked on each side. The griffins lead to carved lion’s feet resting on top of the plinths. The over mantel features a large rectangular mirror, pedestals above the heads of the griffins, fluted columns with Ionic capitals, and carved moldings. In the center, a shield framed by hand-carved leaves adorns the apron and a rectangular mirror sits above the shelf, framed by layers of carving. This mantel was reclaimed by Olde Good Things, from a townhouse on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The entire piece is in very good condition with wear consistent with its age and is on display in the showroom of our flagship store located at 333 W 52nd St. NYC.
