The antique Victorian brass door mortise lock operates by inserting a key into the lock cylinder, which turns the internal mechanism, aligning the tumblers and allowing the lock bolt to engage or disengage, providing security or access to the door. It can also simply function by turning the door knob, and latching the door shut. Key not included. The lock body is made of solid cast iron, the faceplate of brass, and the strike plate is brass plated steel. This is in excellent condition.
