Established in 1862 and operational until 1950, Reading Hardware Company, located in Reading, Pennsylvania, began as a hardware manufacturer founded by Ferdinand Guth and George S. Kress. Its initial offerings included builders’ hardware, locks, hinges, and diverse metal products, earning recognition for quality and innovation in residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

This Vernacular style eight fold door knob was made by Reading in the 1885 catalog. It is part of the K-23700 Windsor group. Priced as a pair of knobs with a spindle.
