Waldorf Astoria French Limestone Mantel with Faux Black Marble Finish

Crafted from limestone, this mantel boasts a sophisticated faux finish resembling black, gray-green, and white marble, embellished with elegant gold accents. The vertical supports feature fluted carvings with delicately designed floral motifs at the base of each fluting, complemented by fluted carvings adorning the apron. Bearing a "Made in France" marking, this mantel was brought over to adorn the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, which opened its doors on October 1, 1931.
Originating from suite 30R, this mantel has an authentic historical connection. Images capture the mantel in its installation at the Waldorf Astoria. The mantel components are in good condition, although the faux painting doesn't extend to the back edge of the shelf (located under a mirror) and the back edges of the side panels (beneath trim moldings).
