Waldorf Astoria English Regency Carrara Marble Mantel

This 19th century English Regency mantel is carved from white statuary marble with light gray veining and inlaid with sage green breccia marble with forest green flecks. In the center of the apron is a horizontal white marble carving of cherubs in the clouds holding a garland. On each side of this motif is a carving of a medallion punctuated by a set of fluting to the left and right. Complimenting the medallion, a floral carving adorns each leg. Green breccia marble inlays frame the firebox opening. The tiered statuary marble shelf is modestly finished with a rounded edge.
This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to Suite V on the 15th floor. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria, the original hearth is not included. Kindly confirm the condition before purchasing. Located at our Scranton Warehouse, please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.

Local Pick-Up
