Statuary White & Verde Antico Green Marble Mantel from The Herbert Hoover Room of The Waldorf Astoria

This 19th century English Regency mantel is reclaimed from the Waldorf Astoria's Herbert Hoover suite in NYC. A stunning piece, it is carved from white statuary marble with gray veining and inlaid with opulent dark green Verde Antico marble. In the center of the apron sits an incredibly detailed white marble urn motif, framed to the left and right with Verde Antico inlays. Complimenting this motif, statuary marble floral carvings cascade down each leg. Verde Antico inlays frame the firebox opening, and the statuary marble tiered shelf is finished with a modest groove.

This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. It is original to the A suite on the 31st floor, where Herbert Hoover resided during his New York City stays. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
