Reclaimed The Plaza Hotel White Marble Fireplace Mantel
$9,500
This Carrara mantel dates back to the early 1900s, when it was commissioned for NYCs Plaza Hotel. One of the finest hotels of its time. When The Plaza opened its doors on October 1, 1907, guests were greeted with the classic beauty of this mantels timeless design framing their fireplace.
A collection of these mantels was acquired by OGT in 2005 when the hotel was renovated and converted into condos. As these old mantels originally held electric lamps, each top bears holes that can be repaired by one of our craftsmen upon request. A substantial, heavy cast iron insert is included, and we have a limited amount of original hearthstones with colored panels also available upon request. The cast iron surrounds were painted white, but the paint can be stripped off or repainted.
The weight of each mantel is 320 lb. Despite an overall dimension indicating 60.5 inches in length, the shelf widens towards the front compared to the back. The length at the rear edge of the shelf, where it meets the chimney wall, spans 57.5 inches.
These mantels are part of a collection, and a limited quantity are still available. As such, pairs are available. Each mantel is one of a kind, and the veining will vary subtly from piece to piece. For all orders, please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.
