19th Century Waldorf Astoria English Regency White Marble Mantel

$11,200

SOLD

Recovered from the 19th century, this English Regency antique mantel, carved from pristine white marble, offers a glimpse into the past. The vertical supports of this mantel bear the graceful weight of a duo of narrow fluted pilasters adorned with delicate acanthus leaves. The horizontal apron features intricately carved flutings and a central floral motif, while the corners are adorned with charming floral elements.

Bearing the gentle signs of time, this mantel's wear, consistent with its age, only serves to enhance its inherent character. Skillfully removed, it retains a very good condition. Originating from Europe, it was brought overseas to grace the interiors of the iconic Waldorf Astoria, which opened its doors on October 1, 1931. Its original home was within suite 13-H of the historic hotel in New York City.

An accompanying gently worn crema marfil marble hearthstone, designed to match, adds to the completeness of this offering. With your purchase, you'll receive an authenticity card from the Waldorf Astoria, connecting you to the rich history of the piece. Notably, the provided images depict the mantel in its installed state at the Waldorf Astoria; if you wish, you can request information about its reclaimed condition before finalizing your purchase.
