1850s French Light Sienna Mantel Charles X Style Hand Carved

This hand carved mid 19th century mantel in the Charles X style is a classic example of this time period. Charles X style lasted from 1818 to 1834 and marked a moment in design when the formal and strict shapes of the Napoleonic era softened, became curvier, and dark woods were replaced with warm blonde hues.
True to that period, this marble is light sienna, highlighted with rose veining. The shape is substantial yet graceful, complete with two lion's feet. Imported from Europe by Danny Alessandro & Edwin Jackson Mantel Company, this piece was acquired by OGT.
