Art Deco Statue of Christ with Alpha and Omega New York City

$7,600.00

SKU: Q276130 Categories: , , ,

This large terra cotta Christ statue once stood at the top of the 16 story building of the Calvary Baptist Church on 123 West 57th Street, where Carnegie Hall resides just across the street. The church was built in 1929 and was designed by John Rochester Thomas and was scheduled for demolition in 2021. This piece is in three parts, which form the statue of Christ in front of an arch dome holding the bible with the letters Alpha and Omega on the front. Other than some chips from removal, it is in very good condition. Seven statues have been rescued and are available, please inquire.
