Waldorf Astoria English Regency Statuary Marble Mantel

Antique English Regency style mantel carved from white marble with gray veining. Magnificently hand carved motifs of grazing sheep and a reclining shepherdess with lamb adorns the face of the mantel. The simple and elegant design of this mantel is complemented by a recessed panel across the apron, cabled flutings on the jambs, and a combination of plain trim pieces. The shelf is finished with a narrow ogee edge, and is raised up slightly by plain cavetto trim underneath.

This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to suite F on the 29th floor and a Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.

The mantel is in good condition, however, it has wear consistent with its age. Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria, kindly request the reclaimed condition before purchasing.
