Waldorf Astoria 19th Century English Regency Marble Mantel

This English Regency style mantel is carved completely from statuary marble. Deeply carved circular medallions, framed by fluting and featuring a star that sits above each jamb. A unique carving of an infinity pattern runs across the apron and down each leg. In the center of the apron presides a rectangular motif of a scroll.

This antique mantel was one of several pieces imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to Suite A on the 9th floor. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
During its installation at the Waldorf Astoria, this mantel was accompanied by two brick columns positioned at the rear of the fireplace. The shelf extended along the sides and rear, extending beyond the marble surround. Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria, kindly confirm the condition before purchasing.
