Late 19th Century French Gray Marble Mantel

$10,500

This gray marble mantel features striking Breche marble inlays on the frieze and jambs. Carved in the Louis XV style, designs of this time period can be broken into three distinct categories; however, overall they were characterized by curved forms, lightness, and asymmetry versus the more formal, box like furniture of the preceding Louis XIV.

True to this style, you will note this lightness in this mantel's design, the plinths are simple, but the legs are carved, leading to scrolls on each corner of the apron framing the center frieze, which is a pompadour motif.

Imported from Europe by Danny Alessandro & Edwin Jackson Mantel Company, fine mantel dealers specializing in pieces for private clients, this mantel is in very good condition with wear consistent with its age. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.
