French limestone mantel with unusual carved floral motifs, raised panels, and a very unique center design of a seashell with leaves. This antique mantel was imported from France to furnish the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. The mantel is in good condition and the limestone has wear and coloring that reflects its age. The slightly worn hearthstone is from beige Crema Marfil marble. The mantel was located in suite 23M.
