Ornate French Empire style mantel carved from white statuary marble, with gold plated ormulu. Prominent bronze female satyr figures are positioned on each side, while an ormulu pattern of vines and leaves wrapped around a bow adorns the center of the apron. A pair of classic floral motifs complete the figures on the facing of the surround. Detailed ormulu trim includes egg and dart accents at the firebox opening and curved front of the plinths, beaded surrounds along the borders of the apron, and a leaf detail on the edges of the mantel shelf. This is a large scale mantel and includes an impressive cast iron surround. The architect of the estate that Olde Good Things removed this mantel from informed us that the mantel was purchased in Paris, France from a location near The Louvre. The mantel is in very good condition and is assembled for viewing in the showroom of our store located at 2420 Broadway on the upper west side of Manhattan.
