Salvage Alert: Rescue a Remnant of Rose Hill

Rose Hill, the New Castle estate of American impresario Billy Rose, is scheduled for demolition within the next week or two. Help us save its magnificent limestone entryway!

Best remembered as the lyricist for “Me and My Shadow” and “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” Billy Rose (1899-1966) the famous Broadway impresario, lived here from 1928 till his death. A devastating fire in 1956 destroyed many of the home’s original features, as well as Rose’s art collection, which included several works by his friend Salvador Dali. Over the years, the 98-acre estate changed hands several times, most recently serving as a seminary for the Legionaries of Christ Church.

It’s now the end of the road for this beautiful home, but with your assistance we can save its elegantly carved main entrance from the landfill. If you are interested in purchasing this unique artifact, or if you know someone who is, please contact us right away. Help us preserve and reuse this piece of historic American architecture!
