This spectacular antique mantel is made of solid elm. It was salvaged from an old Italianate on 1st Ave. and 17th St. in Manhattan, NY. The mantel has a straightforward design with beautiful accents such as two carved almond shaped ornaments and a semicircle carved adornment, which looks like a gear, accompanied by five small circular ornaments. The over mantel has a unique design consisting of five openings for either mirrors or panels, and two small shelves and one long shelf supported by four curved braces. The uppermost shelf is complemented by a curved back, which also has a semicircular mini shelf attached to it. The mantel has been recently stripped and is great shape.
