19th Century Edwardian Intricately Carved Sienna Marble Mantel

$57,000.00

SKU: J180221 Categories: , , , ,

This important English chimney piece is carved from dark sienna marble. It was retrieved from the Vanderbilt residence on Sutton Place in Manhattan. It is unusual for an English mantel, because the center plaque is carved out of a block, as opposed to being paneled and layered. Details include a winged figural center motif, rams head capitals atop each side jam with maiden figures in the center, intricate scrollwork throughout and acanthus leave edging. This is one of many acquisitions from Danny Alessandro & Edwin Jackson mantel company.
