This is known as the "Fanciful Beast" knob, beautifully detailed with a beast with its flying tail in the center of the knob and swirled edging. These knobs were manufactured by Corbin in 1895. They are in the B-21700 Empire group. Priced as a pair of knobs with a spindle. The patinas are different.
